PROGRAM: Fighting Cancer Today

Fighting Cancer Today is committed to helping cancer patients heal emotionally and financially from the hospital to the home while undergoing active cancer treatment, one cancer patient at a time.  Learn more about Fighting cancer Today.

About our Speaker: Cierra Johnson

Cierra and Anita Johnson are the founders of Fighting Cancer Today, a nonprofit organization committed to helping cancer patients emotionally and financially as they heal from the hospital to the home and are actively undergoing cancer treatment. Fighting Cancer Today is a Southern Illinois-based organization that has served assisted cancer patients with over $22,000 in financial assistance with the support of our partners, over 500 care packages, and over 3,000 hours advocating for families ensuring they have essential non-medical resources and support to continue in their fight against cancer since inception in September 2019.

Cierra has battled cancer since 2019; she has experienced firsthand the lemons life throws us all. She feels that it's our responsibility to keep making lemonade so that we are refreshed, allowing us to be refreshing to all we encounter. Her greatest accomplishments are being created in the image of our Creator and being able to reflect his love to her family, friends, and strangers. She loves to travel while spending quality time with her family, laughing, playing games, and eating good food. It has been a ball making Southern Illinois my home for the last 13 years, and I am humbled to make a difference in the community that has made the most significant difference in my life and the lives of those I love.

This Month's Luncheon Sponsor:
The Marion Cultural and Civic Center Foundation, established in 1982, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and serves as a main component of fundraising for the Marion Cultural and Civic Center.  The foundation exists to fill the gap in funding. As a result of our membership and generous supporters throughout the years, the foundation has been able to generate funds on behalf of the Cultural and Civic Center allowing for improvements that might not otherwise be possible. Improvements in the past have included lighting, sound, fixtures, and concession equipment upgrades.
