Ride for a cause!  Blue Sky Vineyard has partnered with St. Francis CARE for the second annual Ride to the Sky Benefit Bike Ride.  Join us for an organized bike ride with routes of approximately 22, 30, 36, 48 & 52 miles!  The ride starts and ends a John A Logan College, Parking Lot A.

 Mass start at 9:00 a.m. (Route closes at 2:00 p.m.)

$30 pre-registration fee includes a t-shirt if you register before August 17th, 2022!

Dynasty Entertainment LLC and Marion Cultural & Civic Center are proud to announce “The legendary music of Chicago comes alive starring Chicago co-founder and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Danny Seraphine. The CTA band and their powerful horn section, performs Chicago’s classic hits from the 70’s like 25 or 6 to 4, Feeling Stronger, and Saturday in the Park and also includes the 80’s power ballad era including Hard Habit to Break, You’re the Inspiration, and Look Away. It’s a night of nothing but classic hit music with Danny Seraphine’s, “Take Me Back To Chicago Tour.”

Drumming Legend  Danny Seraphine, is one of the world’s most highly-respected rock drummers. He was the drummer, percussionist and a founding member of the band Chicago. From 1967 to 1990, Seraphine played on and produced multiple Grammy Award winning records.

From the beginning, Danny Seraphine, as the drummer, was always the backbone of the operation. It was his job to keep everyone in time and on balance. He set the pace and carried it through to the end, no matter what. In 1990, after 23 years of performing, composing, and recording albums with Chicago, Seraphine experienced a jarring parting of ways with the bandmates that he considered brothers. The rift threw his life into chaos. Together they had toured the world and created one of the most enduring American songbooks of all time.

The iconic group that captured the hearts of millions of fans has earned 23 gold, 18 platinum, and 8 multi-platinum albums to date. They have had five number-one albums and 21 top-ten singles. On April 8, 2016 they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at Barclay’s Center in New York.

In the end, it was a request to play a benefit show for a fellow drummer that pulled Seraphine out of seclusion and sparked a musical rebirth. That night, basking in the glow of a standing ovation, Seraphine realized how much he missed performing.

Founded in 2006, CTA (California Transit Authority) is led by co-founder and original Chicago drummer Danny Seraphine. Their music is rooted in new arrangements from the extensive Chicago catalogue. Often described as “Chicago on steroids,” Seraphine’s legendary drumming is at the core of CTA’s funk, jazz, and rock material supporting the searing guitars, blazing horns and impassioned vocals.

An Evening with GRAMMY Award Winner Suzy Bogguss

Grammy award-winning and Platinum selling artist Suzy Bogguss is making her first ever appearance to the Marion Cultural & Civic Center. Suzy Bogguss is one of the most acclaimed female country singers of the late ’80s and ’90s, who was able to balance country tradition with a contemporary mainstream sensibility, thereby satisfying both audiences and critics.

Suzy is from Aledo, Illinois and began singing in her church choir at age five. Encouraged by her parents, she learned piano and drums as a child, and took up guitar as a teenager.

During the creative explosion that was country music in the 1990s Suzy Bogguss sold 4 million plus records with sparkling radio hits like “Outbound Plane”, “Someday Soon”, “Letting Go” and “Drive South”. 

One of the most diverse female artists in country music, she is a CMA, ACM, and ASCAP Award Winner. She has recorded a duets album with the legendary Chet Atkins, made an album of modern swing music with Ray Benson of Asleep At The Wheel, and landed on the jazz charts with an original album Sweet Danger. In 2004 she became a GRAMMY winner to her list of accolades for her work on Beautiful Dreamer: The Songs of Stephen Foster, and in her critically acclaimed album and book project from 2011, American Folk Songbook. In 2014 she released Lucky, a collection of songs written by Merle Haggard and interpreted through Suzy’s crystal vocals from the female point of view. Her recent offering, Aces Redux, is a re-recording of her platinum selling album Aces produced by Suzy with fresh arrangements and her signature effortless vocals. So yes, you can call her a country singer if you want, but really that’s just the beginning.

Since 2017, Suzy has also been touring as one of three “Chicks With Hits”, a show that also features Pam Tillis and Terri Clark.

She remains an advocate for adoption, diabetes, cancer, HIV / AIDS and many other causes and non-profit initiatives.  While she has reached the heights of success throughout her 60 plus year career, Patti has also endured and survived personal strife. Within a ten-year period, she lost her mother, three sisters and best friend to diabetes and cancer. In 1994, she was diagnosed with diabetes and shortly thereafter became a spokesperson for the American Diabetes Association.  

The same motivation that had Patricia Louise Holte blossom from a choir member to lead vocalist for Patti LaBelle & The Bluebelles and later Labelle, to a solo artist, is the same energy that keeps her fire burning at seventy-eight years young. “Each year I grow, and that’s a blessing from God.  I do what I can do.  I do what I feel God has given me the energy to do, so I just go out there and I do it…it’s not about making money because I don’t need money, but I need to sing.  With a voice or without, I’ve got to get on that stage.”  And the world is thankful that Patti’s voice sounds so good to our ears.

Lee Rocker made his mark singing, playing, standing on, spinning and rocking his giant upright bass as a founding member of the Grammy-nominated music group, the STRAY CATS. The Stray Cats sold over 10 million albums, garnered 23 gold and platinum certified records, and were among the early music-video pioneers of MTV.  The Stray Cats’ worldwide mega hits, “Rock This Town,” “Stray Cat Strut,” and “Sexy and Seventeen” have become a part of the fabric of rock and roll. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has included “Rock this Town” as one of the ‘500 Most-Important songs in Rock history.’

From appearing on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine, as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live, to headlining the world’s biggest festivals and touring with the Rolling Stones…Lee Rocker has seen and done it all!   In addition to his career with The Stray Cats, Lee Rocker has recorded and performed with George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Willie Nelson, Leon Russell, John Fogerty and Carl Perkins. In 1982, Rocker and his father Stanley Drucker (classical clarinetist of the New York Philharmonic, under Leonard Bernstein) both received Grammy nominations; this was something that has only occurred twice in the history of the Grammy Awards!  In 2012, Lee appeared on Broadway in the hit musical “Million Dollar Quartet.” Rocker has also received numerous honors for his contributions to music and the arts, including being inducted to the Bass Player Hall of Fame, the Rockabilly Hall of Fame, the Long Island Music Hall of Fame and he is a recipient of the Visionary Artist Award by his home city of Laguna Beach, California. In 2021, Rocker was honored to perform at the Library of Congress and at the First Lady, Dr. Jill Biden’s Luncheon. Also during 2021, music from his critically acclaimed record “Gather Round” was choreographed and performed as a “rock ballet” by world-renowned New York City dance company “COMPLEXIONS.”  And finally, the year 2022 found Lee Rocker included in Bass Player Magazine’s 100 Greatest Bassists of all time – in great company alongside Sir Paul McCartney, John Entwistle, Charles Mingus, Ron Carter and other legends of the instrument.

Lee Rocker has been consistently touring, recording and performing around the globe since 1980 and has cultivated a fanatically loyal following of rockers, rebels and music-lovers of all types.   He is known for making his upright double bass appear as if it were a lightweight instrument as he spins, throws it about and stands on it during his high-energy concerts. In concerts, Lee shares behind-the-scenes stories of his epic career in the music business. He ‘rocks every town’ and leaves every audience cheering on their feet!

Concerning is that over 1,000 BIPA lawsuits involve every day workplace issues like time tracking and employee verification. Although we see the ugly in BIPA through litigation, this panel will discuss the positives of biometrics that have been lost during this litigation explosion and how companies should not shy away from using this amazing technology. The panel will also discuss the future of biometrics and the much needed BIPA reform.
