Leadership Marion is kicking off its new quarterly content with a hilarious talk about annoying work environments on August 3rd at noon at the Veterans Airport of Southern Illinois. Join Kim Barr as she presents Annoying Habits of a Co-Worker – May We Not Be One.

We are going to look at traits in a co-worker that annoy us! Do you think that you can recognize these traits in anyone you are working with on a daily basis? Or, do you see yourself in these traits? Who knows! But, we are going to spend some time looking at the traits and learn some tools in how to handle them with others and with ourselves. Bring an open mind and a sense of humor! We are going to have a great time because this topic brings out a lot of discussion!

Tickets are $20 and include a box lunch provided by Debra K's Catering, it includes a sandwich, chips, fruit, cookie, and a bottle of water.

About our Speaker: Kimberly Barr is currently the Chief People Officer at The Voyage Senior Living in Marion.  She has worked in business for over 30 years with that last 20 focused in Human Resources.  She has achieved her PHR and SHRM-CP certifications and works hard to stay on top of all things new and updated in the industry of HR.  Kim prides herself on being a problem solver with an ability to train managers to be highly effective leaders with their direct reports.  She has been very blessed to have served in the industries of telecommunications, financial, insurance and currently assisted living for seniors.  She believes that those in HR are responsible for protecting the company and the employees.  Working in this capacity requires a sense of balance and a high level of empathy.  Those that have worked with Kim and know her well, will share that she works very hard and will give her all to make sure everyone is treated with respect.

The Legislative Affairs committee would like to invite you to a special committee presentation on Bitcoin.  James Mayer will be leading the discussion to explore the history and rise of Bitcoin as a form of currency and driving force in today's economy.. Attendees can attend in person or online via ZOOM.

About Our Speaker: James Mayer attended SIU in 1997 and earned a BS degree in information systems technology. When he graduated from SIU, he stayed local working for a couple local computer stores, quickly gaining insight to Southern Illinois and the needs of not only people, but the businesses. During this time, James Mayer furthered his education in California by attending a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer training class. James started Mayer Networks in 2006 because of one fundamental reason, there were no larger IT firms in the area that could assist local small business in the manner that James felt he could. To this day, James has been a large driving force of information technology in southern Illinois by delivering modern technology assets and fundamentals to the businesses of southern Illinois. Because of James Mayer, Mayer Networks and Southern Illinois has had several firsts.
