Scholarship Information

The Marion Chamber of Commerce Foundation awards scholarships based on the amount of money generated by the fundraising efforts from the previous year. The Grad Spree Scholarship is for $1500. This year’s Grad Spree Scholarship is for $1,500 and can be applied to any higher-level institution.

Requirements

Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.

A completed Application Packet, which includes:

• Print out of the scholarship submission confirmation email. Make sure it includes:
  • Signature of a parent and Guardian. - Signature line will be in confirmation email.
  • Signature of a Marion Chamber of Commerce Member, signed by a member in good standing. (Visit marionillinois.com for a member directory) -  Signature line will be in confirmation email.
• Official High School Transcript, including GPA from Marion High School.
• Official Attendance Report, from student portal.
• A Letter of Recommendation from a teacher, counselor, coach, or employer, who is not related to the applicant
• A maximum 500 word essay or 5 minute video which describes the applicant’s desired profession and career goals, why the applicant has chosen a specific career or profession; the planned course of study that will be pursued in order to meet his/her career goals; activities or additional studies the applicant already has completed or achieved to prepare for his/her chosen major area of study.

Scholarship winners will be asked to attend the May or June membership luncheon at noon on the second Tuesday after they are awarded the scholarship to update our members on their accomplishments. While their attendance is not required, it is highly recommended.  

Disbursement

Recipient must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours for the fall semester in order to receive the disbursement and must submit their Fall 2023 college registration form/schedule to the Marion Chamber of Commerce office.

Financial scholarship is given in one payment and recipient will be contacted to pick it up. Disbursement must be collected within nine (9) months of the award date.
