Town Hall Meeting and Listening Session

Marion….Illinois State Representatives Terri Bryant, Dave Severin, and Patrick Windhorst will host a legislative town hall and listening session in Marion on Monday, February 4, 2019.

The Representatives will make themselves available to discuss their own legislative agendas, their thoughts on actions taken during the first weeks of the Pritzker administration, and take questions from audience members.

Membership Luncheon - February 2019

The Marion Chamber of Commerce Monthly Membership Luncheon will be held on Tuesday, February 12th at Celebrations Event Center. Lunch service begins at 11:45 a.m.

Caterer & Presentation topic will be announced Feb 1st.

SIH  is the sponsor of the this month's Monthly Membership Luncheon.

Registration for the event is $12 (payable to the Marion Chamber of Commerce) to those who RSVP prior to noon on the MONDAY before the luncheon. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged. After noon on the Monday before the luncheon, no more registrations will be taken, however walk-ins will be accepted. Please note that the walk-in rate is $15.

Parents get time for themselves Valentines weekend while campers learn about trees, maple syrup production, winter animals, and more! Guest speaker, Rockcat Jaros from the Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois, will be presenting on all things snakes, teaching us why they are pretty sweet too! Games, crafts, participatory music, and a dance party will make this overnight at Touch of Nature truly a sweet and memorable time. A great first overnight camp experience.

(Children ages 7-12)
Drop off time - 5pm Friday
Pick up - 2:30pm Saturday

$70 for overnight
$60 for past eco campers

2019 National Girls & Women in Sports Day

Women's Leadership Fair:
Help us celebrate National Girls & Women in Sports Day on Sunday, February 17th and cheer on the Salukis!

The leadership fair will take place around the concourse inside SIU Arena prior to the Saluki Women's Basketball vs. Illinois State game. There will be stations set up by our female student athletes and coaches along with other groups in the community to talk about role models and encourage the empowerment of women in sports and the opportunties it provides. There will also be a Charlotte West Role Model Award given at halftime of the basketball game.

Each participate 12 years and under receive FREE admission. Adults can purchase tickets for the entire evening for only $5! The first 250 participants will receive a drawstring bag and commemorative NGWSD poster.

New Member Quarterly Luncheon

The Marion Chamber is excited to welcome new members to our organization.  Once a quarter, the Membership Committee hosts a New Member Luncheon prior to the regular Membership Committee Meeting.  Our new members get to network with fellow business leaders in a cozy environment over a complimentary lunch! 

The luncheon rotates between various locations around Marion.  This quarter's luncheon is hosted by Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers.  Please check in with chamber staff before ordering!

What is the recipe for being a great leader?  Wayne Tate will guide us in looking at great American leaders and what common qualities made them outstanding leaders.  Plus, how these ingredients made two high school soccer players great leaders.  

Wayne’s leadership has included a business career as a CFO, CEO, and investment advisor for 36 years.  He has also served as a leader with the Marion Unit 2 School Board, Greater Marion Area United Way, Marion Rotary Club, Marion Soccer Assoc., Girl Scouts, River To River Residential Corp., and the Marion High School Girls Soccer team.

2019 Marion Professional Firefighters CASH BASH

Wild Kickoff Celebration featuring Jennie Finch

Women’s Professional Softball is coming to Southern Illinois and we hope you will join us to celebrate our new Canadian Wild of Southern Illinois. On Thursday, February 28th, the Wild will be hosting a very special night to celebrate the new team coming to our region, and we will have a featured speaker, Jennie Finch, referred by Time Magazine as the most famous softball player in history.

The Wild’s kick off celebration will be held at Marion’s new event venue, Midwest Event Center, 11580 Route 37N, Marion IL, and will begin at 7 pm. Miners COO Mike Pinto and Cheri Kempf, commissioner of the NPF (National Professional Fast Pitch League) will do an introduction about the Wild and will introduce Olympic Gold Medalist Jennie Finch who will talk about her experiences playing in the Olympics and the NPF. A Q and A session will follow. Entry to the event is free. You must register for a ticket to attend.

Fans who would like to meet Jennie will be able to purchase a VIP meet and greet. A limited number of these upgrades are available for $25 each and include an opportunity for an autograph and photo with Jennie.
