Breast cancer continues to affect women nationally, and we see firsthand the effects within our local community in Southern Illinois. According to the CDC, next to skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the United States. While deaths from breast cancer have declined over time, breast cancer remains the second leading cause of cancer death among women. Breast cancer, while dropping universally, continues to rise among African American women and is the leading cause of cancer death among Hispanic women.

In rural areas like Southern Illinois, breast cancer continues to rise, putting thousands of women and their families at risk for unstable families, job loss, homes, food insecurity, emotional support, and more. In Southern Illinois alone, 60% of our emotional and financial support went to women battling breast cancer. Our work is not done, and we need your help.

Fighting Cancer Today is committed to removing barriers to breast cancer education, emotional support, and financial support so that women can make informed decisions about their breasts and live healthy lives. During this event, attendees will be educated on breast health and wellness through workshops while helping to raise funding for women who are battling breast cancer locally. Will you join us as we raise awareness for the families affected by breast cancer in Southern Illinois?
