Event Description
Square Up Marion, a newly formed not-for-profit organization in Marion that focuses on community beautification, has announced that their first community project day will be Saturday, October 5, 2019. Volunteer registration begins at 7:30AM in the parking lot behind Marion City Hall. Donuts are being provided during registration by Cornerstone Church.
The first project for Square Up Marion is a one-day, community-driven effort to clean up 1 Block East (1BE), roughly defined as one block east of the Tower Square in Marion, Illinois. Group organizers are working to enlist volunteers to complete the identified project details, which include: removing graffiti, cleaning up sidewalks, improving landscaping and other beautification projects.
A free lunch and “block party” is being provided to volunteers and the community at large by Cornerstone Church, beginning at 11AM, to celebrate the event successes.
Volunteers may register online or in person the day of the event. Monetary donations are also accepted online, as well as commitments to provide needed tools, supplies and talent.
