Event Description
College Night will be held at MHS on Wednesday, September 11th at 7:00 pm in the high school auditorium. The college admission process, what colleges are looking for, scholarships, financial aid etc. will be discussed that night. This is open to any student and their families that would like to attend.

Details
Murray State University will be at MHS on Tuesday, September 24th beginning at 8:10 for an on-site program. Seniors interested in possibly attending Murray St. should sign up in guidance for this event. During this program, students will be applying online with their chromebooks to Murray, students will self-report their transcripts and test scores, and the application fee will be waived during this 1-day only event. If you are planning on applying to MSU, sign up to attend this program so there will be no application fee necessary.

SIUE will be here for an on-site admission day on Monday, October 28th. Deadline to sign up for this event is October 21st. Students will fill out a paper application from SIUE in advance of the event, the MHS counseling staff will provide them with your transcripts, you will be admitted on the spot if admissible, and your APPLICATION FEE WILL BE WAIVED (that one day only)
Seniors: The Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship applications are now available at: elks.org/scholars. The deadline to have everything in is November 5, 2019. Anyone can apply for this scholarship and you do not need to be related to an Elks member.
The Elks Legacy Scholarship will open on 9/1. This one you must be a child or grandchild of an Elks member. It can be also be found at: elks.org/scholars. The deadline for this scholarship is January 31, 2020.
Attention Juniors/Seniors: SIU Day will be on Wednesday, September 18th from 9-2. We will be taking a group over there, where you will get to see SIUC on a much deeper level, meet with faculty, learn about college majors, do hands on activities while seeing the majors first hand. Sign up in guidance.
Attention Juniors/Seniors: The ASVAB test will be given at MHS on Monday, September 23rd at 8:10. This test is something you have to take if you are entering the military, however it is also great for any student, because is scores you in career fields and gives you a great idea of what your strengths are and what careers may be best suited for you. **Sign up in guidance

The October 5th SAT has a registration deadline of: 9/6/19. You can sign up for this test at: collegeboard.com. SAT prep (free) can be found at: khanacademy.org
The Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship application process is now available. You must apply through the Common Application. This scholarship is designed to help student's with financial need that are applying to some of the best universities in the country to help cover a significant portion of college costs (up to $40,000). Students must have a 1200 SAT or 26 ACT. Applicants whose family income is $95,000 or below can apply. Deadline is Nov 13th.
Coca-Cola scholarship applications can be found at: coca-colascholarsfoundation.org. Deadline is October 31st. This is a $20,000 award.
